Is Your Integrity at Risk?
By MaryAine Curtis, Transformation Coach & Spiritual Psychology
Coach
Avoiding confrontation diminishes the truth of how you really feel. Speaking truthfully can be scary and feels risky to verbalize how you feel deep inside when it just seems easier to get along and do it their way. What’s at risk here is your integrity. Integrity is being aligned with your personal truth, your feelings as well as actual truth. It’s the state of being whole and undiminished.
“Be a big girl and don’t cry, it’s not that bad”, may have been said to you as a child when you fell and scraped your knees. That sent a confusing double message to you that says that even if you’re hurt, don’t act like a baby. Statements that made you feel like a baby may have left a huge imprint that still affects your relationships today. Putting up shields for protection was learned early to hide our true feelings and stay out of trouble.
Who gets hurt by this old survival habit? You do.
Not stating your opinions and
feelings is actually diminishing and robbing your confidence and respect. Living
in integrity requires thoughtful and compassionate inner communication, actions and
the ability to “walk your talk”. Knowing how you feel deeply inside and your word
is your most important quality that no one can take from you.
Think of someone with
integrity that you admire.
Does he/she live with honor and strong values?
Why do you admire him?
What qualities do you have, that you see in her also?
Think about the ramifications of an avoidance pattern when it’s carried over into
your adult relationships.
You may feel unheard, unimportant, resentful and depressed.
To keep the peace have you given up your choice in entertainment, education, residence
or career? Stuffing your feelings may not be worth the price to you pay to receive
acceptance from your parents, spouse or boss. Avoidance and denial may seem like
the best way to get around speaking your truth but it weighs you down and will cause
you to avoid living your life to the fullest. Isn’t it time to take the shields off
and discover the true person inside of you?
Do you see how dysfunctional patterns can start in childhood? This is correctable with the Return 2 Joy personal programs.
